WaveKat Voice is a desktop softphone that signs in to a VoIP.ms sub-account over SIP and records and transcribes every call automatically. It runs on Mac, Windows and Linux, it is free during the public beta, and there is no monthly subscription — a desktop counterpart to the VoIP.ms Softphone, which runs on iPhone and Android. A call flow can answer the VoIP.ms calls you cannot take, with a greeting and voicemail, and every call can log itself in your HubSpot CRM.
VoIP.ms is in WaveKat Voice’s guided provider list, with its servers as regions. You create a SIP sub-account in the VoIP.ms portal, pick the server closest to you, and enter the sub-account’s username and password.
Create the sub-account in the VoIP.ms portal under Sub Accounts → Create Sub Account, with Protocol set to SIP and Authentication type to User/Password; your full username is your account number, an underscore and the name you chose. The region you pick fills in the domain (your server isn’t listed? type its exact name, like toronto3.voip.ms, into Domain), and the sign-in refresh is set to the 300 seconds VoIP.ms suggests. Call 4443, the VoIP.ms echo test, to check your audio — it works even before you add funds.

VoIP.ms is a Québec-based, pay-as-you-go VoIP provider with US and Canadian numbers and servers across North America. It is prepaid in US dollars, and you sign in with a SIP sub-account per device. For apps, it makes its own VoIP.ms Softphone for iPhone and Android, free while in beta — and because sub-accounts are standard SIP, any SIP softphone can register with one too.
Yes. WaveKat Voice is a SIP softphone and VoIP.ms is in its guided provider list: you pick VoIP.ms and your server, enter your sub-account username and password, and it registers. It works on Mac, Windows and Linux, and every call is recorded and transcribed automatically.
If you want a subscription-free desktop softphone for VoIP.ms that also records and transcribes every call, WaveKat Voice is built for that on Mac, Windows and Linux. VoIP.ms’s own VoIP.ms Softphone runs only on iPhone and Android; Zoiper runs on desktop and mobile, but its free edition is for non-commercial use and it does not transcribe calls itself.
The VoIP.ms Softphone is a mobile app for iPhone and Android. On a computer, you register a VoIP.ms sub-account with a SIP softphone such as WaveKat Voice (Mac, Windows and Linux) or Zoiper.
In the VoIP.ms portal, create a sub-account under Sub Accounts → Create Sub Account with Protocol set to SIP and Authentication type to User/Password. Then in WaveKat Voice, add an account, pick VoIP.ms and the server closest to you, and enter the full sub-account username (like 100000_desktop) and its password. Call 4443, the echo test, to check that audio works both ways.
Your number (DID) must point at the sub-account, on the same server WaveKat Voice signs in to. If the number routes to a different server than the region you picked, calls never reach the app — change one so they match.
VoIP.ms needs a valid 10-digit caller ID on the sub-account. Set one in the sub-account’s settings in the VoIP.ms portal, then try the call again.
Turn off SIP ALG on your router, and leave NAT set to Yes on the VoIP.ms sub-account. Calling 4443, the VoIP.ms echo test, is a quick way to check: if you hear yourself back, audio works in both directions.
Not yet. VoIP.ms only allows encrypted sign-in together with encrypted call audio (SRTP), and WaveKat Voice doesn’t encrypt call audio yet. Leave the sub-account’s Encrypted SIP Traffic off and stay on UDP for now.
No — WaveKat Voice is a desktop app for Mac, Windows and Linux and doesn’t run on phones, so it can’t deliver mobile push notifications. For incoming VoIP.ms calls on an iPhone or Android, use the VoIP.ms Softphone. On the desktop, WaveKat Voice stays registered and rings while the app is open.
Yes. A call flow answers the line for you with a greeting, checks your opening hours, offers a phone menu, takes a message, or transfers the call — and the message is recorded and transcribed like any other call, so you can read it instead of listening back. You can also pick the call up while someone is still leaving one. The greeting, taking a message and ringing you are free; phone menus, opening hours and transfers are part of Pro, free for a year during early access. The flow runs on your own computer, so the app has to be running for it to answer — otherwise VoIP.ms voicemail takes the call.
Yes. Connect your HubSpot account once and every VoIP.ms call you take or place files itself on the matching contact, with the time, direction, outcome, duration, transcript, and a recording you can play inside HubSpot. It is a Pro feature, free during early access, and webhooks cover any other CRM.
