The OVHcloud softphone that records every call, on Mac, Windows & Linux

WaveKat Voice is a desktop softphone that connects to your OVHcloud SIP line and records and transcribes every call automatically. It runs on Mac, Windows and Linux, it is free during the public beta, and there is no monthly subscription — so it puts your OVHcloud number on your computer, including on Linux, where OVHcloud’s own Softcall app does not run. A call flow can answer the OVHcloud calls you cannot take, with a greeting and voicemail, and every call can log itself in your HubSpot CRM.

What WaveKat Voice does

How to set up an OVHcloud softphone

OVHcloud is in WaveKat Voice’s guided provider list. Each OVHcloud line has its own domain, so you copy three values from the OVHcloud Control Panel — the login, the domain and the SIP password — and WaveKat Voice fills in the rest.

  1. 1Download and open WaveKat Voice on your Mac, Windows or Linux computer.
  2. 2Add an account and choose OVHcloud from the provider list.
  3. 3Enter your line’s login (the number in 0033… format), its domain and its SIP password, from Télécom → VoIP & Fax in the OVHcloud Control Panel.
  4. 4WaveKat Voice registers with OVHcloud and you’re ready to call — and every call is recorded and transcribed automatically.

Where to find the values: open your line in the OVHcloud Control Panel, then Gestion → Informations générales → Informations SIP shows the login, the domain and the outbound proxy, and Gestion → Mot de passe SIP sets the password. If the outbound proxy differs from the domain, enter it under Advanced → Server. Picking OVHcloud sets the sign-in refresh to the 1800 seconds OVHcloud recommends and keeps the connection on UDP, the only transport OVHcloud lines use.

What OVHcloud gives you for calling

OVHcloud is a French cloud and telecom provider that sells VoIP plans with SIP lines. For apps, it offers its own softphone, Softcall, free with its VoIP plans on Windows, Mac, iOS and Android, and it publishes setup guides for Zoiper and Linphone — and a line bought without an OVHcloud phone is standard SIP, so other softphones can register with it too.

Frequently asked questions

Does WaveKat Voice work with OVHcloud?

Yes. WaveKat Voice is a SIP softphone and OVHcloud is in its guided provider list: you pick OVHcloud, enter your line’s login, domain and SIP password, and it registers. It works on Mac, Windows and Linux, and every call is recorded and transcribed automatically.

What is the best OVHcloud softphone for Mac, Windows or Linux?

If you want a subscription-free desktop softphone for your OVHcloud line that also records and transcribes every call, WaveKat Voice is built for that on Mac, Windows and Linux. OVHcloud’s own Softcall is free with its VoIP plans and adds iPhone and Android, but has no Linux version; Linphone is free and runs everywhere, but does not transcribe.

How do I set up a softphone for OVHcloud?

In WaveKat Voice, add an account, pick OVHcloud from the provider list, and enter the login (your number in 0033… format), the domain and the SIP password. You find them in the OVHcloud Control Panel under Télécom → VoIP & Fax: open the line, then Gestion → Informations générales → Informations SIP, and set the password under Gestion → Mot de passe SIP. If OVHcloud shows an outbound proxy that differs from the domain, put it under Advanced → Server.

Why won’t my OVHcloud line sign in?

The most common cause is a missing outbound proxy: if the one OVHcloud shows under Informations SIP differs from the domain, it must go under Advanced → Server in WaveKat Voice. If the line signed in before and has stopped, check Gestion → Restrictions SIP par IP — when IP restriction is on, add your current internet address or turn it off.

Why is the SIP password button greyed out for my OVHcloud line?

The line came with an OVHcloud phone (Plug & Phone). Those lines can’t be used with a softphone, so OVHcloud greys out the SIP password button. To use WaveKat Voice, you need a SIP line bought without a phone.

Can I use my OVHcloud number on Linux?

Yes. OVHcloud’s Softcall app is available for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android, but not Linux. WaveKat Voice runs on Linux as well as Mac and Windows, and registers your OVHcloud line over SIP — as does Linphone.

Why do I hear only one side of an OVHcloud call?

One-way audio or dropped calls usually come from the router: turn off SIP ALG. OVHcloud also asks that your network allows UDP ports 5060 and 5962, and 30000–40000 for the call audio.

Does WaveKat Voice handle OVHcloud calls on my phone?

No — WaveKat Voice is a desktop app for Mac, Windows and Linux and doesn’t run on phones, so it can’t deliver mobile push notifications. For your OVHcloud number on an iPhone or Android, use Softcall or Linphone. On the desktop, WaveKat Voice stays registered and rings while the app is open.

Can WaveKat Voice answer my OVHcloud calls when I am not there?

Yes. A call flow answers the line for you with a greeting, checks your opening hours, offers a phone menu, takes a message, or transfers the call — and the message is recorded and transcribed like any other call, so you can read it instead of listening back. You can also pick the call up while someone is still leaving one. The greeting, taking a message and ringing you are free; phone menus, opening hours and transfers are part of Pro, free for a year during early access. The flow runs on your own computer, so the app has to be running for it to answer — otherwise OVHcloud’s own voicemail takes the call.

Can WaveKat Voice log my OVHcloud calls in HubSpot?

Yes. Connect your HubSpot account once and every OVHcloud call you take or place files itself on the matching contact, with the time, direction, outcome, duration, transcript, and a recording you can play inside HubSpot. It is a Pro feature, free during early access, and webhooks cover any other CRM.
