The subscription-free softphone for 2talk on Mac, Windows & Linux

WaveKat Voice is a desktop softphone that connects to your 2talk account over SIP and records and transcribes every call automatically. It runs on Mac, Windows and Linux, it is free during the public beta, and there is no monthly subscription — so it is a way to put your 2talk number on your computer without paying for Bria. A call flow can answer the 2talk calls you cannot take, with a greeting and voicemail, and every call can log itself in your HubSpot CRM.

  3. 3Enter your 2talk phone number and its SIP password.

Prefer to enter it by hand? For most New Zealand accounts, 2talk uses a single SIP server — sip.2talk.co.nz — for the domain, proxy, and outbound proxy. (2talk’s newer Lyra platform uses its own settings.) Pick 2talk in WaveKat Voice and it fills these in for you.

What 2talk gives you for calling

2talk is a New Zealand VoIP provider that gives you a phone number and SIP credentials. For apps, it points you at its own 2talk Connect softphone and resells Bria, a paid softphone, at NZ$5.95 + GST per month — and because your account is standard SIP, any SIP softphone can register with it too.

Frequently asked questions

Does WaveKat Voice work with 2talk?

Yes. WaveKat Voice is a SIP softphone and 2talk is in its guided provider list, so you pick 2talk, enter your 2talk number and SIP password, and it registers — no manual SIP configuration. It works on Mac, Windows and Linux, and every call is recorded and transcribed automatically.

What is the best softphone for 2talk on Mac, Windows or Linux?

If you want a subscription-free desktop softphone for 2talk that also records and transcribes every call, WaveKat Voice is built for that on all three desktops — Mac, Windows and Linux. 2talk’s own paid pick, Bria, adds iPhone and Android; MicroSIP is free but Windows-only and does not record or transcribe.

Is there a free 2talk softphone instead of Bria?

Bria bought through 2talk costs NZ$5.95 + GST per month (as of July 2026). The free options are WaveKat Voice on Mac, Windows and Linux — free during its public beta — and MicroSIP on Windows. Both register with your 2talk number over SIP.

Can I use my 2talk number on a Mac?

Yes. Any SIP softphone can register a 2talk number on a Mac — including 2talk’s resold Bria app and WaveKat Voice. WaveKat Voice adds automatic call recording and transcription and doesn’t charge a monthly fee during the beta. The Windows and Linux builds work the same way.

Does WaveKat Voice handle 2talk push notifications on my phone?

No — WaveKat Voice is a desktop app for Mac, Windows and Linux and doesn’t run on phones, so it can’t deliver mobile push notifications. For reliable incoming calls on an iPhone or Android with 2talk, use Bria or Acrobits Groundwire. On the desktop, WaveKat Voice stays registered and rings while the app is open.

Is there a 2talk softphone for Windows?

Yes. WaveKat Voice runs on Windows 10 and 11, with separate installers for Intel/AMD (x64) and ARM64, and 2talk is in its guided provider list. The Windows build is younger than the Mac and Linux ones and is not code-signed yet, so Windows warns about an unknown publisher on first launch. MicroSIP and 2talk’s resold Bria are the other Windows options.

Can WaveKat Voice answer my 2talk calls when I am not there?

Yes. A call flow answers the line for you with a greeting, checks your opening hours, offers a phone menu, takes a message, or transfers the call — and the message is recorded and transcribed like any other call, so you can read it instead of listening back. You can also pick the call up while someone is still leaving one. The greeting, taking a message and ringing you are free; phone menus, opening hours and transfers are part of Pro, free for a year during early access. The flow runs on your own computer, so the app has to be running for it to answer — otherwise 2talk’s own voicemail takes the call.

Can WaveKat Voice log my 2talk calls in HubSpot?

Yes. Connect your HubSpot account once and every 2talk call you take or place files itself on the matching contact, with the time, direction, outcome, duration, transcript, and a recording you can play inside HubSpot. It is a Pro feature, free during early access, and webhooks cover any other CRM.

How do I set up a softphone for 2talk?

In WaveKat Voice, add an account, pick 2talk from the provider list, and enter your 2talk number and SIP password — the SIP settings are filled in for you. For most New Zealand accounts, 2talk uses one SIP server, sip.2talk.co.nz, for the domain, proxy, and outbound proxy; 2talk’s newer Lyra platform uses its own settings, so use the details 2talk gives you if your account is on Lyra.
